Lady Gaga is considered a fashion icon but who would have thought someone would pay thousands of dollars to have a piece of her, even if it was just a fingernail.

A fake nail of the "Bad Romance" singer was auction off for £8,500 which is equivalent to $13,000.

According to E! News, the black acrylic nail is designed with intricate gold embellishments and was worn by the singer at the launch of her Fame fragrance last September.

On the PFC Auctions site the description for fingernail is described as follows, "A black acrylic fingernail featuring an intricate gold bead pattern that was personally worn by Lady Gaga during her 'The Born This Way Ball' tour at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Saturday 15th September 2012.

"The finger nail was recovered from the stage by a crew member after Lady Gaga finished her performance. The nail is also accompanied by a photograph of Lady Gaga on stage at the event, clearly showing her missing the acrylic finger nail from the little finger of her left hand.

"Also a second photograph showing Gaga wearing the same Aya Fukuda designed acrylic nails at the launch of her perfume in New York the night before her Dublin performance.

"Also included with this lot are an Aviva Stadium staff handbook, an event crew wristband and a Lady Gaga The Born This Way Ball local crew grey t-shirt.

"Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the consignor stating how he obtained the item, including 'I noticed an object on the floor of the stage, which at first I thought was a guitar plectrum. When I picked it up, I saw it was an acrylic nail.'"
