The summer's hottest concert, Hot 97's Summer Jam, brought several household names including Nicki Minaj and 2 Chainz to perform for a massive crowd at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday.

Returning for its 20th edition, several mega stars including Miguel, Mariah Carey, Kendrick Lamar, Fabulous, Wale, Chris Brown, French Montana, A$AP Rocky, Joe Budden and the Wu Tang Clan took the stage at the sold-out and packed venue, according to VIBE. The highly-anticipated and unpredictable performances were streamed live.

There were a ton of surprise performers, but the biggest surprise seemed to be rapper Papoose, whose controversial impromptu "Get at Me" performance in between Lamar and Montana's sets had jaws dropping, according to Complex. Apparently, the Brooklyn rapper had bumrushed the stage, and was not expected to perform, said the station's program director and morning show co-host, Ebro Darden via Twitter shortly after the show ended.

Papoose tweeted and responded to Ebro's statement, posting that the station's head honcho knew he was performing. The two went back-and-forth and did not settle the matter as of yet, and the tweets have since vanished.

According to XXL Magazine, Darden said the station's DJ, Peter Rosenberg was responsible for Papoose jumping onto the stage and performing.

Another memorable moment was Minaj's appearance during the 2 Chainz set, which was truly unexpected for the "High School" rapper and Rosenberg had a highly-publicized fued, which was recently settled.

Miguel brought out a skin baring- and short shorts-wearing Carey and rapper J.Cole for his set, giving both some unexpected stage time, according to FUSE TV.
