On Saturday singer Bruno Mar's mother died at Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Bernadette Hernandez was 55-years old when she died following a brain aneurysm.

The mother of six started out as a hula dancer and then emigrated from the Philippines. The "When I Was Your Man" singer constantly gushed over the way her mother nurtured his music career.

Earlier this year Mars told Gulf News of his close relationship with his mom and how much he appreciated her supporting him during his hard times.

"I always wanted to buy my mom a house and that was the first thing I did with my first big cheque. That was the most beautiful moment ever. I bought my mom a nice house in Hawaii and that was before I got anything for myself.

"I had to take care of mom. It was an emotional moment. I still remember when I had moved to L.A. (when he was 17) and I was struggling, especially afterMotown dropped me, and she was always helping me out with money even though she didn't have that much and you never forget that."

The singer even wrote a song for his mother titled "I Love You Mom" which reflected on his parents' support of his career, according to Us Weekly.

In the song the singer says, "I love you Mom, you'll always be my favorite girl."

Stars like Rihanna and Amber Riley tweeted their condolences to the singer following the news of his mother's passing.

The "Stay" singer tweeted, "Sending my love and condolences to @BrunoMars at this difficult time! I'm sincerely praying for you bro! #1Love."

The "Glee" star tweeted, "No worse feeling than losing a loved one. My condolences. Prayers for @brunomars."

The Daily Mail reported that Hernandez, who is divorced from the "Locked Out of Heaven" singer's father Peter Hernandez, is survived by her Grammy Award winning son, his brother Eric, and their four sisters Tahiti, Jamie, Presley, and Tiara.

The singer's rep confirmed the death of his mother, Mars has since remained silent since her passing, however fans continue to send him their warm thoughts and prayers.
