Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder announced their breakup earlier this month and were forced to reunite at "The CW Upfront" event soon after. Although many expected the reunion to be awkward, which it was, no one expected tears to be involved.

When the actors realized that they were in different places in their lives they decided stepped away from their relationship. Both seemed fine as each star happily tweeted regularly, bragging about their great lives.

Little did we know that the Nina's heart was still breaking as she could not even get through a conversation with her ex-boyfriend without tearing up.

Reports surfaced that when the stars saw each other at the CW event Dobrev appeared to look hurt and was sad to see her ex-boyfriend. A source told Us Weekly, "Her eyes welled up. She looked so sad," after having a heart to heart with Somerhalder.

Initially the magazine claimed the ex-couple was friendly with one another but they are now reporting that the reunion of the two stars proved to be sad.

The insider told the magazine that their meet up was actually awkward, "They avoided eye contact. It was awkward."

It was recently revealed that they "The Vampire Diaries" co-stars split when the 34-year old actor brought up marriage to his 24-year old girlfriend. Sources reported that the young starlet just was not ready to settle down seeing as she is just getting her career started.
