Charlie Sheen is revisiting his Latino heritage by taking back his birth name for a new film.

According to TMZ, the actor is now answering to Carlos Estevez to play a role in the upcoming Robert Rodriguez-directed "Machete" movie. This is the first time that Sheen has gone by his original name in his professional career.

Well, Sheen's name change is a soft one next to Jermaine Jackson, Mecca World Peace and the artist formerly known as Prince that captivated our attention. But is "Estevez" temporary?

Well, it's hard to figure that out, but we do know the star wanted a more authentic name to match his character in the "campy thriller about a rampaging Mexican assassin."

And one wonders if he regrets fabricated a stage name, and is trying to really connect with his Spanish roots.

After all, his actor-father Martin Sheen, who was born Ramon Antonio Gerardo Estevez, has second thoughts about his name change.
