Los Angeles Lakers player Steve Nash is reportedly blocking his ex-wife Alejandra Amarilla from moving from Phoenix to Los Angeles so that he does not have to pay child support for the 3 kids they share, according to his ex.
TMZ reported that the ex-couple is currently locked in a legal battle in which the basketball player is trying to prevent Amarilla from relocating to Los Angeles. Amarilla claims that she would like to move in order for the children to be closer to their father.
In the past Nash has said that it is hard for both him and his children to be so far apart from each other and that things would be better if they could all spend time together, according to TMZ.
Nash reportedly asked Amarilla not to make the move because he thinks that he may either be traded or forced into retirement which means the family may be forced to move all over again.
However his ex-wife is claiming that the reason he does not want her to move is because he is worried that the California courts will enforce huge child support obligations against him. Issues he currently does not have to deal with while the kids live in Phoenix.
His ex-wife alleges that Nash does not pay a dime of child support and her new move could ruin a good thing.
According to the Examiner, a court in Los Angeles has ruled that Nash must pay child support if the family lives in the city however a court in Arizona has ruled that Nash is not required to pay child support to them if they remain in Arizona.
Currently the judge has issued a restraining order that prohibits Amarilla from moving the couple's children out west for the next two weeks which is when their trial is set to begin.
