"Diabetes is not a death sentence," said Sherri Shepherd.
"The View" host and comedian is brave and candid in describing how she deals with the disease, detailing her introspections out loud in her new book, according to US News.
In Plan D: How to Lose Weight and Beat Diabetes (Even If You Don't Have It,) Shepherd, 46, opens up in vivid detail about living with the label, and how she is shedding it.
"So many people are paralyzed with fear, but knowledge is power," the vibrant ABC daytime television star said. "Once you know, then you can take charge and make slight changes to your diet, and add in some exercise."
The book about the funny woman, who was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2007 after ignoring doctors warnings of being prediabetic, will inspire readers to live better, more flourishing lives.She details everything from going from taking three medications initially to learning to control her blood sugar with diet and exercise.
