As most would agree, the challenge with smoothing on foundation is finding that shade that both matches and blends in with your skin.

For those trying to achieve that flawless, natural look, picking the right shade is an attainable goal. Just follow the example set by 16-year-old actress Hailee Steinfeld, who constructed a 'masterpiece' makeup look, according to the Huffington Post.

The 'True Grit' star gives a red carpet look that is both fresh and age appropriate. In fact, she attended a dinner in honor of designer Prabal Gurung recently, achieving and dazzling with an understated face that you can get, too.

The key is to skip the overdone, caked-on makeup and instead, play up and accentuate your youthful skin with minimal makeup.

And what did Steinfeld use, you ask? Her makeup artist, Stephen Sollitto used a combo punch of monochromatic eyeshadows, blushes and lip colors in a three-product approach. Her eyes popped with Benefit Thanks A Latte shadow in a champagne shade, which was swept onto the star's entire lid. And in the creases, upper and lower lash lines, Sollito used bronze Mac Mulsh.

Also, her lashes sparkled with a generous helping of Benefit Get Bent Mascara underneath expert-shaped brows, thanks to Benefit Gimme Brow Fiber Gel.

As far as her cheeks, MAC Powder Blush in Buff and Lancome Blush Subtil in Rose Boise gave her a "coral-pink effect," reported Huffington.

Her lips were kiss perfect with a pale MAC lip color, added to MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner in Gentle Coral.
