Former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland recently released a shocking song called "Dirty Laundry" in which she revealed painful secrets that she kept to herself over the years.
In the song, which premiered on Wednesday May 15th the singer addressed her jealously towards fellow group member Beyoncé. Both singers are known for being very close however Rowland admits that although she was so proud of Beyoncé who she refers to as her "sister" she was also envious of the singer especially when she hit her lowest point in life.
According to Billboard, "the candid track finds Rowland laying herself bare with frank and often poignant commentary that begins during a rough period shortly after the release of her solo debut 'Simply Deep' in 2002."
The singer mentions that a man was abusing her and tells her listeners that they do not know what the music industry is truly like. Rowland sings about how she called Beyoncé crying about the abusive relationship and her "sister" told her she needed to leave the man.
Her rage made her mad at everyone including Blu Ivy's mother. Rowland accuses the man that was battering her of turning her against Beyoncé when he told her that nobody loves her but him, "not your mama, not your daddy, and especially not Bey."
Rowland told Billboard, "it was very emotional. It took me days to record."
"I had to get past being so upset and actually sing the song, not sob through it. I always hope that my music can inspire someone, the same way other artists inspire me. Dream said, 'I want to write you a record so that people will know exactly who you are, underneath it all.'"
Rowland and the-Dream are scheduled for a summer tour, "Lights Out", which will begin on May 24th in Kansas City. The singer plans to do something special with "Dirty Laundry."
"It's me, a light, and a mic. Stripped and honest," she said.
Kelly Rowland's second album titled "Talk a Good Game" is set to be released June 18th.
