An unprovoked, scary attack has left lead singer of the Grammy winning Tejano group La Mafia, Oscar De La Rosa, with serious head injuries outside a Houston club.
As reported by Yahoo News, an unknown male knocked both Rosa and his driver unconscious on early Monday, said Armando Lichtenberger, Jr., the band's cofounder.
After the attack, De La Rosa had facial cuts, eye damage and two lost teeth.
After being hospitalized, he is now recovering at home, and considering whether to cancel any performances.
According to Examiner, the band posted this update on De La Rosa' condition to their Facebook page on May 14: "...He is still in trauma care at Memorial Herman Hospital (sic.) He has suffered severe head lacerations and possible damage to his right eye.
A police report has been filed and the identity of the assilant has been confirmed, assualt charges will be filed as soon as he is located."
Houston police have made no arrests, but are looking for the man described as having became violent after leaving the bar, according to Yahoo.
According to other reports, it was a Hispanic male that assaulted the singer after he left a LBGT-friendly Blur Bar in the area.
The band formed in 1980 in Houston, winning a grammy for the album, "Nuevamente," in 2006.
Everyone is wishing a speedy recovery for the legendary singer.
