Actor Chris Pine has become the face of the "Star Trek" franchise, however the 35-year old is having a hard time adjusting to being a lead man in Hollywood. The star who has reprised his role as James T. Kirk in the upcoming flick "Star Trek into Darkness" has yet to get used to his newfound status as a Hollywood leading man.

"I find it so odd," Pine told the New York Daily News. "I was always not that kid growing up. I was a very awkward, pimply-faced, what I thought as an outcast. To then be considered one of the gang - I find so much ironic humor in it that I think it saves me from whatever it saves me."

The star is still adjusting to his action packed scenes. The actor finds certain scenes intense, especially those that require explosions during fights.

"They were blowing all sorts of debris and detritus that inevitably would get into your mouth and you would breathe it in," the Californian said, smiling at the memory. "It was pretty intense and get in your eyes and you'd have these huge fight sequences with these fans that are so powerful and loud. It was just overwhelming to the senses."

According to the Examiner, Pine stated that in the latest "Star Trek" both he and the audience will learn somthing new about his charcter. "Humility! He has to learn humility. He goes from a really brash kind of self-assured young man in the first and in this one he's broken down taken to the bottom and he has to build himself all the way back up and I think he ends up being a much more mature leader he learns the importance of selflessness."

Fans can catch Chris Pine starring in "Star Trek into Darkness" which is set for a May 17th release date.
