An unidentified woman in New Paltz, N.Y. contacted authorities to help her remove an estimated 105 cats from her two-bedroom apartment in Hudson Valley.

The woman shares the small apartment with her daughter and sought help removing the animals following the visit from an Ulster County social worker for an unrelated matter.

The Associated Press reported that it took officials several hours to remove the adult cats on Wednesday.

Officials said the woman claimed she was planning to find homes for the cats however her landlord said the apartment had an obvious no-pet policy.

According to the Mid-Hudson News it was reported that when the cats were removed SPCA workers discovered that many of the female cats were pregnant, and some were suffering from mild respiratory or intestinal illnesses.

However SPCA officials have commented and said most of the cats appeared to be healthy.

According to Ibtimes.com the cats are currently in the care of an animal shelter in Kingston, N.Y. and will be available for adoption in seven to ten days.
