A Central Kansas woman got quite a surprise when she encountered a tiger in the bathroom at the circus. A tiger from the Isis Shrine Circus decided to take a bathroom break following its turn in the ring.
According to People Magazine although staff members blocked off the concourses at the Bicentennial center following the animal's escape, the tiger managed to wander into the bathroom following its performance.
Kansas resident Jenna Krehbiel came face to face with tiger in the bathroom, "You don't expect to go in a bathroom door, have it shut behind you and see a tiger walking toward you," Krehbiel said.
Luckily Krehbiel, a social worker was trained to stay calm and did not scream or run when she was 2-feet away from the tiger, "Once she saw the tiger, I'm sure she knew to go the other way," stated Chris Bird, manager Bicentennial Center.
Krehbiel said that her friends joked that her encounter with the tiger in the bathroom was similar to the Hollywood film "The Hangover." In the movie there is a scene in which a tiger belonging to Mike Tyson is found in the hotel bathroom of the main characters, Bradley Cooper, Zack Galifianakus and Ed Helms.
Krehbiel told The Salina Journal when she reflected on the incident it was a scary encounter, "Looking back, it was a scary ordeal. At the time, I was thinking I just needed to get out."
Krehbiel's 3-yearold was more interested on whether or not the tiger followed proper hygiene rules, "My daughter wanted to know if it had washed its hands," Krehbiel explained. "That was her only concern. I think that shows the thoughts of children and that they wouldn't have known there was danger."
Khrebiel had no injuries and the tiger was safely returned to its enclosure. As far as future trips go, Khrebiel is leaning towards the zoo, "I prefer a zoo, where I know they won't get loose."
