Known for his comedic performances, funny man Kevin Hart was not laughing following his DUI arrest this morning around 4:30 a.m. The comedian was arrested early this morning on suspicion of DUI after speeding on the freeway nearly hitting a gas tanker. According to TMZ.com, California Highway Patrol officers arrested Hart after spotting his black Mercedes SLS on the 101 Freeway going 90 MPH.
California Highway Patrol said that Hart showed, "objective signs of intoxication," and was "unable to perform field sobriety tests." The comedian was booked at Van Nuys jail just before 6:00 a.m. and was released on $5,000 bond according to the LA Times.
The star took to twitter following his release, "I'm officially a thug, I spent 6hrs in jail last night...I got pulled over 3blocks from my house by a d*** head cop," Hart went on to tweet, "This cop was the worst, he knew who I was & wanted to make a example out of me...." Hart admitted he was drunk however denied that he resisted arrest. In the TMZ video below Hart states that he simply wanted to take off his watch before the officer handcuffed him and was told that he was resisting arrest.
Although the comedian continuously joked about the situation he made a point to acknowledge that his actions were wrong and irresponsible, "On some real s***....drinking & driving is not a game or a laughing matter. People have lost lives because of stupid s**t this!" he continued to tweet, "This is a wake up call for me, I have to be smarter & last night I wasn't....everything happens for a reason...."
Hart will have his day in court on May 9th.
