On his visit to the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam Justin Bieber chose to leave a message in the museum guest book, "Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber,"Beiber wrote according to the museum's Twitter and Facebook accounts.

The 19 year old star has had a controversial past couple of months. The singer who has in the past insulted Lindsay Lohan, been late for performances and has gotten into scuffles with the paparazzi has now added another level of controversy to his image.

According to ABCnews.com a person close to Justin Bieber said the singer spent more than an hour touring the museum and learning about Anne. The Anne Frank House is not offended by the comment and believes that Bieber meant well. "We think he meant it well. He's only 19 years old and living in a crazy world ... with all girls being fans of him worldwide. Maybe that is also why he wrote it down."

Bieber received major backlash after his comment was quoted on the Anne Frank House Facebook page. Although his fans rushed to Bieber's defense he still managed to offend many people. One person wrote on the museum's Facebook page, " Unbelievable...agreed very self-serving and completely missed the lesson in front of him. Shows his complete LACK of Maturity." However according to US Weekly a source says that, "He wasn't trying to be offensive at all...He was really moved by the experience"

Anne Frank's family went into hiding when she was 13 years old. During that time she kept a diary up until the family was arrested. Anne later died in a concentration camp from disease and exhaustion. After her death Anne's diaries were kept safe, following the war, her father published her diary which sparked attention around the world and continues to this day.
