Makeup artist and the founder of her namesake cosmetic brand, Bobbi Brown recommends cleaning the concealer and foundation brushes once a week. Speaking to the Allure magazine, Brown suggests cleaning brushes used on the eye at least twice a month while others can be washed once a month.

Makeup brushes can be easily cleaned with shampoos, face wash, rubbing alcohol and vinegar but Brown recommends the use of just plain water and some mild soap.
