Model/actress Eva Mendes has been roped in as the new face of Vogue eyewear's spring collection.

Mendes will front the print ads of the optical eyewear and sunglasses that will be seen on magazines and online this month onward. Shot by Mario Testino, the campaign showcases six pieces of eyewear inspired from the latest runway trends as well as classic vintage designs.

"I've always admired Mario's work and it was Vogue Eyewear that brought us together for the first time," the 38-year-old said to WWD.

Mendes described the collection as her type and revealed that she liked the eyewear as it suited her tastes which were very simple.

"I'm not a label type of girl. I carry the same handbag every day, and it's not Hermès. I tend to gravitate toward accessories I can afford. The Vogue eyewear doesn't have an elite quality to it, which is important to me," she added.

The frames for optical glasses will retail at $130 and the sunglasses at $95.

The actress is also busy getting ready to launch her brand, Eva by Eva Mendes, this fall season. She also revealed that her family members would be trying on the pieces from the brand before the collection goes on sale.

"[The collection pieces] have a little of the feel of my favourite vintage dresses and flatter women's curves. My mom, my two sisters and two of my nieces are my guinea pigs,"said Mendes to WWD.

The actress already has a home décor line called "Vida", and a line of bed linens and dinnerware that she launched at Macy's.
