Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra keeps a low profile for the man who runs the most popular group of basketball players in the world. Though relatively unknown until recently, the coach has a little game himself.

Spoelstra suprised media members when he attended a fundraiser with his girlfriend, 24-year-old former Heat dancer Nikki Sapp. The decision by the 42-year-old to go public with the relationship shocked some and has sent plenty of interested fans searching for Sapp on Google.

The Miami Herald called the Heat coach "notoriously private" and "boyish," while the Sun-Sentinel said Spoelstra's decision to reveal his relationship was "so uncharacteristic of him" because he's "steered clear" of such things in the past.

Sapp, a former Florida International student, got her start dancing for the Heat as an 18-year-old back in 2005, while the then 34-year-old Spoelstra was an assistant coach under Pat Riley in Miami. Sapp danced with the squad for three years but left the team before Spoelstra accepted the head coaching job in 2008. Sapp currently runs an art gallery in Miami.

The two managed to keep their romance private for two years, but the couple supposidely decided enough was enough and came out together on the red carpet of Saturday's Reid & Fiorentino Call of the Game fundraising gala at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.

Spoelstra's Heat are currently on an 18-game winning streak and are already coming off a championship last season. Heat superstar LeBron James has been having a legendary season that some are calling as iconic as those by Michael Jordan during his glory years with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990's.
