Designer Karl Lagerfeld has unveiled his first design of the eco-friendly colorful jelly shoes for Brazilian brand Melissa, Feb. 25.  Lagerfeld plans to launch a capsule collection with the Brazilian brand for the next four seasons; the first one being the autumn/winter 2013 styles.

The designer calls the shoe "Mary Jane" and has incorporated the color of the Brazilian flag on it. The blue shoes features a distinct design on the ankle that is tastefully done up in Brazil's national colors of green and yellow.

"The best way to know a country is to work with people from that country," the designer exclusively told WWD.

Known for its colorful jelly shoes, Melissa has collaborated with industry names like Jean Paul Gaultier, British designer Vivienne Westwood as well as Victoria's Secret angel Alessandra Ambrosio in the past.

The partnership with Lagerfeld was announced on December 2012 and both Melissa as well as the German designer were pleased with the deal. Paulo Pedo, CEO of Melissa described it as "one of the most exciting collaborations the company has ever seen," according to Vogue.

The fashion house too excitedly spoke about the deal as the brand and Melissa shared similar ideals and Melissa brought out the essence of Lagerfeld's designs with precision.

"We are very excited about the partnership with Melissa who have been great in translating Karl's inspirations and designs into truly iconic and fun fashion products that many women in the world will happily wear," the fashion magazine quoted Pier Paolo Righi, CEO of Karl Lagerfeld.

The collection will be officially launched with a photo exhibition slated for March 26 at the Melissa Galleria in NYC and the designer will be present to grace the event.
