Fashion designer Betsey Johnson made a triumphant return to New York Fashion Week on Monday.  The designer who had to file for bankruptcy last year delivered a show that was completely energetic, entertaining and over-the-top, according to IBTimes.

Models strutted the runway talking on their phones, carrying champagne bottles and even doing yoga. The humorous show which was called "BJ Kicks A" featured tights, various legwears and a new dressline. There were bright colors galore as models walked the runway.

Betsey Johnson started her label back in 1978 which became a trademark for its lifestyle brand that included intimates, handbags and leather goods, footwear, watches, jewelry, eyewear, swimwear, legwear, outerwear, luggage and fragrance, according to IBTimes.

However in April 2012 Johnson had to file for bankruptcy and close all of her 63 stores due to falling into millions of dollars into debt. This resulted in the loss of many jobs by her 350 employees. The label had opened up many new stores in 2007 when the recession was just started to take effect, according to The New York Times.

Johnson stated to the Times, "We were bogged down in five-year projections. Or maybe it all began when stores started knocking off my $250 prom dresses for $49."

According to IBTimes, Johnson's partner Steve Madden stated that the company "had delusions of building a huge company and going public. So they borrowed a lot of money, they had too many stores, and their rents were too high."

Johnson made a return that had her back in the fashion world with a new plan to improve on her label.

Her new collection will hit department stores and retailers at affordable prices.
