A new beauty salon specializing eyelash extensions and permanent makeup, recently opened on Mercer Island, Washington. Parlor Elan which opened on January 12th is located behind Rite Aid at 8431 SE 68th St. in the South-end Mercer Village Shopping Center.

According to the Mercer Island Patch, the location was once a dry cleaner that now has plush and comfy dentist-style chairs to create a relaxing atmosphere for clients. There are also booths painted in warm, earthy tones, crushed velvet drapery and dark-lacquered wood cabinets.

Eyelash technician Regi Bohr stated that the shop “promises to make women’s lives easier and help women feel beautiful.

Bohr also stated about the shop’s atmosphere: “We think every woman deserves to relax in an environment that’s built to nourish the individual woman”.

The salon’s main priority is focusing on eyelash extensions. According to the Mercer Island Patch, Salon technicians take silk or brushed mink fur and craft them into sets of eyelashes which are applied singularly and takes approximately 1 to 2 ½ hours.

The price ranges from $100 for a partial set to $450 for a full set of mink fur lashes but for Valentine’s Day Parlor Elan is offering specials including a 50 percent discount.

The shop also offers services including skin therapies like bee venom, permanent makeup, and spray tanning.

According to the Mercer Island Patch, the new shop is co-owned by close friends Annie Messmore and Dina Good who stated that Mercer Island was viewed as a good location to expand because many of their clients were commuting from Eastside. This produced a steady stream of business for the shop.
