Rapper Kanye West has asked Getty Images to take down pictures of him wearing a skirt during the hurricane Sandy relief concert in December. West had famously worn a Givenchy skirt/kilt for his performance and got quite a few sneers for it from fans as well as fashionistas.

Getty Images has confirmed the news to Gawker that they have been asked to remove the pictures from 12.12.12 but the concert wasn't the first time West sported a skirt. Pictures from other events when the rapper wore a skirt will still be up online.

The reason as to why West suddenly wanted the pictures removed isn't clear but it has been speculated that it has to do something with rapper Lord Jamar's new number, "Lift up your Skirt."

The new song clearly talks about West and his wardrobe choices with the lyrics, "He introduced skinny jeans to the rap scene/Then he wore a f***ing skirt on the video screen/Then he wore it again at a memorial/I can't pretend this sh*t ain't deplorable."

Since the song was released, West's fans have kicked up a storm that Jamar is hinting at the rapper's sexuality. In his defense, Jamar says that he wasn't hinting at anything homosexual but just was talking about how West has always made unique wardrobe choices.

"From rocking a pink Polo to interning with Fendi, the self-proclaimed 'Louis Vuitton don' has always been on the forefront of what's hot in clothes - including, yes, the occasional pair of skinny jeans," Jamar explained on rapgenius.

Contrary to his explanation, Jamar had earlier claimed that West's clothes do not go in tune with the hip hop culture.

"I'm talking specifically about, what is hip hop? And that's not hip hop. Rocking dresses with mean faces, that's not hip hop," gig wise quoted Jamar.

But pregnant girlfriend Kim Kardashian doesn't have any doubts about the rapper's sense of style as she had said earlier that there is a possibility of West designing clothes for their baby.
