Joe Paterno's widow has agreed to do an exclusive interview with Katie Couric, her first since the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse scandal and its fallout, according to the LA Times.

Suzanne Paterno, who married Joe Paterno in 1962, has kept largely quiet since the Penn State scandal that tarnished her husband's reputation. Her silence will finally be broken in the interview that is scheduled to air on "Katie" on February 11th. According to the same LA Times report, Couric and Sue Paterno have already gotten together at Paterno's home in State College, Pa.

Joe Paterno was the head coach of the Nittany Lions from 1966-2011 and had amassed more Division I college football wins than any other head coach. His prolific career had included 409 wins, two national championships, three Big Ten Conference Titles, and a 2007 induction into the college football hall of fame.

However, it was a swift fall from grace for the Penn State icon after the Sandusky allegations broke. There was deliberation over Paterno's employment status and the sentiment was that he would be let go. Paterno offered to resign at the end of the season, but the Board of Trustees rejected his resignation and instead often to fire the then Penn State head coach.

While the case against Sandusky was still ongoing, Paterno passed away from lung cancer in January 2012. After Paterno's death the bad news continued to snowball. The NCAA stripped the former head coach of 111 wins dating back to 1998, and Penn State removed Joe Paterno's statue that had stood in front of the university's Beaver Stadium.

Couric's interview will be her second major college football story in recent weeks, as the now daytime talk show host was the first person to get an on-air interview with Notre Dame linebacker Manti Teo.
