Bangs are back in season going by the increasing number of celebrities who are flaunting their new hair cut. From the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton to reality show star, Kim Kardashian, a number of celebrities are experimenting with bangs to suit the current fashion trend.
And the latest celebrity to jump on the bang bandwagon is First Lady Michelle Obama. She showed off the new hair with a photo on her recently opened Twitter account. The picture showed the First Lady, who celebrated her 49th birthday Thursday, dressed in a Zac Posen dress talking to Inaugural Citizen co-chair David Hall ahead of the Martin Luther King Day of Service.
And her forehead-covering full bangs were clearly on display, which interestingly received mostly positive remarks from her followers.
Fashion designer Nanette Lepore tweeted, "happy birthday michelle!! love the new bangs ;)"
Jane Larkworthy of W Magazine noted that Michelle's new bangs have created such frenzy that it overtook the number of emails she received on the Golden Globes fashion.
The Wall Street Journal, too, noted that this new look was a bold move considering the inaugural function is round the corner.
"These aren't the kind of subtle, side-swept bangs that some women favor, including Duchess Kate. Rather, Mrs. Obama opted for full-on, forehead-covering fringe. It's a bold move at a high profile time for the First Lady, just days before President Obama's inauguration."
Besides the new look, Michelle also embraced Twitter on Thursday with the handle @FLOTUS - First Lady of the United States. Though another Twitter account with the handle @Michelle Obama already exists, it is mostly run by her staff members, the Huffington Post reported.
