Meredith Vieira, a fixture in ABC's "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," is leaving after 11 seasons.

"It's the final year of Meredith's contract. She has chosen to move on and pursue other opportunities," said Disney/ABC spokeswomen, adding, "We are searching for a new host." Meredith took over for Regis Philbin as host in 2002.

Vieria hosted the British based television quiz "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," in which contestants answer questions to win a maximum prize of $1 million. In her induction to the "Game show Hall of Fame," by Game Show Network (GSN) she said "I did the show because I fell in love with the show, adding "when Michael Davies approached me and said, 'Would you be interested in hosting the syndicated version?', I said, 'Just point me toward the contract! I am so there!'."

Vieira will continue to host "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," until May, repeats will play over the summer before a new host take over in the fall. Meredith Vieira will remain with NBC as a contributor to Dateline NBC and a correspondent on "Rock Center with Brian Williams.

The 59 year-old is best remembered for being a round table host in ABC's daytime show "The View," with Barbra Walters, afterwards she joined NBC's "Today," as a co-anchor with Matt Lauer from 2006-2011.
