Bobbi Brown Cosmetics had broken the news of Holmes' appointment as its face over Twitter in September 2012. "We're proud to announce that we have partnered with Katie Holmes as the brand's first-ever celebrity face," the post said.

Talking about why the 34-year-old was chosen to front the ad, Brown told LA Times, "I didn't choose her because she's a celebrity, I really didn't. She's not 20, she has a lot on her plate from acting to design. She was interested in how I balance work and being a mother. I think she's a great role model and that women will relate to her."

And even Holmes seems to live by the Bobbi Brown Cosmetics' values "I really like [Bobbi Brown's] philosophy that makeup makes you feel beautiful," the mother of one told the Huffington Post. "I've always been a fan of her makeup, because it's so easy to apply. Her color palettes aren't extreme, so when I first started wearing makeup it felt comfortable and I didn't feel like I had too much on, which can happen."

The ad was released Jan. 7, Monday, and showcases the cosmetic company's  Long-Wear Cream Shadow Sticks, reports CBSnews.com. The sticks come in eight different shades and will be retailing at $28 each. They can be bought online from the Bobbi Brown Website or from department stores.

The full campaign is scheduled to release in February 2013.
