Instagram made it to the headlines recently after it announced changes in the terms and conditions listed on the site. Following these privacy changes, users were not very pleased and made their annoyance pretty clear. And now it has surfaced that a lot of users have deleted their account from the photo sharing app.

Instagram has lost almost 25 percent of its daily active users which includes even celebrities, according to Digital Trends. AppData figures suggest that the site had almost 16.4 million active daily users before the new terms and conditions were announced. But now it has just 12.4 million active daily users, thanks to the new terms.

Instagram, on its part, refuted the claims and said that the site retained its users. "This data is inaccurate. We continue to see strong and steady growth in both registered and active users of Instagram," a spokesperson told GIZMODO.

On Dec. 17, Instagram updated its terms of usage and the privacy of users. The new terms mentioned that the site would be authorized to display one's photos and username to any business entity who pays for the same. The users of the site felt threatened about their privacy and quit the site.

But Instagram isn't the only one with these kinds of terms and conditions. Facebook goes on the same lines with its terms reading that by agreeing with the stipulations, users give Facebook the permission to use any IP content that they post on the site.

Also Instagram is now owned by Facebook who bought the former in a $1 billion deal in April 2012 and hence their policies are bound to be similar.
