Britney Spears who created quite a stir with her stint as a judge at "The X-Factor" season two has reportedly been dumped from the show, according to Newsday. Spears might not be returning for the third season that is likely to commence next fall.
The "Gimme More" hit maker was signed for the second season of the reality show and earned an amount of $15 million. But now it looks like the producers don't think it is worth spending so much on her and she might be shown the door. "They paid all that for her to say 'amazing' and offer half-claps," MStarz quoted a source.
But it is still not a guarantee that Spears won't be returning for the show. Simon Cowell in an interview with E! early December said, "I don't know yet, to be honest with you. I haven't had the conversation with her whether she'd want to, what other commitments she's got."
At present the only judges sure to be seen in the next season are Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato as L.A. Reid has already spoken about his plans of concentrating on duties as a music executive.
Between all these speculations, "The X-Factor" spokeswoman has maintained that nothing is sure as of now. "No one has discussed next year's judging panel yet. Any reports otherwise are complete speculation," she said in a statement.
Looks like only time will tell if Spears will be seen in the third season but if she doesn't return we wonder who will replace her.
Spears' contract with the show has put her on the Forbes List of "The Highest Paid Female Singer of 2012." She recently also released her studio album "Femme Fatale," which grabbed the top position on the Billboard Top 200 chart adding to her fortune.
