A Facebook user claiming to be Ryan Lanza, brother of Adam Lanza who gunned down 27 people in Newtown Dec. 14, has been posting a number of messages on the site and even gave an interview to the New York Post. But now it turns out that the user wasn't Lanza but someone who hacked into his account, according to the paper.
While everyone thought that the posts were from the 24-year-old, it was later revealed by a spokesperson for the Lanza family that the account had been hacked and someone else was pretending to be Ryan and that he had not posted the messages.
On Dec. 22, the imposter pretended to be Ryan and spoke to the New York Post through Facebook chat. He said that he too was devastated not only because the shootout killed innocent people in the school but also because he had lost his family members. "I am a victim... I loss [sic] my mom and brother," he said.
The imposter also posted pictures of Adam and his mother. Adam's picture was posted with a caption "R.I.P. I will miss you bro. I will always love you as long as I live." The Facebook profile also has a picture of Nancy Lanza with the words, "I miss you mom. I love you so much. You will be always in my heart."
He not only posted the pictures but also reacted harshly toward posts that criticized Adam for the shootout. One of the users posted a comment on Ryan's wall, which said that Adam Lanza deserved to "rot in hell." In response to this comment the hacker said, "I am so tired of people blaming me for something my brother did. I love Adam, his my brother. But you have no right to call my brother names when he isn't here no more. Just let my brother rest in peace. Please. Respect that."
