In a two-hour finale filled with star studded red carpet, stylish costumes and very exciting and solid performances, country singer Tate Stevens was crowned the winner of "The X-Factor" Season 2. With this, the 37-year-old won himself not just the title but also a recording contract of $5 million.

"First and foremost, I gotta thank the man upstairs for taking care of me," said Stevens. "My family, all the country music fans -- God bless you. Thank you so very much for all the votes. This is the best day of my life."

Stevens performed the song "Please Come Home for Christmas" and wowed the audience with his melodic and powerful voice. He has been called the most consistent performer throughout the season. A true believer in country music, he literally seems to worship it.

"You have to think that country music is still one of the biggest selling music genres going. (Country music fans) still go to concerts. They still go buy real CDs. They still go to the store and get the little plastic discs. So, I definitely think that country music is ready (to win The X Factor)," Entertainment Wise quoted Stevens.

Carly Rose who was considered one of the strongest contestants in the show seemed to be in true holiday spirits as she sang, "All I Want for Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey. The 13-year-old who made it to the final two looked a bit disappointed but congratulated Stevens with a hug.

She later took to Twitter and said, "I am the luckiest girl in the world to have the most amazing family, friends, and fans! Thank you so much #carlysangels!"

Pitbull and One Direction added extra glamour to the event performing "Don't Stop the Party" and "Kiss You", respectively.

Apart from special performances and the judges, hosts Mario Lopez and Khloe Kardashian too looked dressed for the big night. Kardashian wore a pretty green lace dress that showed off her tanned and slender legs and Lopez was dapper in a chic black suit.
