When Olivia Culpo was crowned Miss Universe 2012, she not only looked happy and excited but was also stunned. The beauty pageant contestant who battled it out with 88 other beauties from across the globe said that it was a dream. It surely must have felt like one after all the controversies and allegations the cellist from Rhode Island has faced since being crowned Miss USA June 3, 2012.

The 20-year-old, who is a student at Boston University and is rumored to be dating Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte, has been called incompetent. It was even stated that being Lochte's girlfriend was not reason enough to win the pageant and that there were other brilliant and better women who deserved the Miss USA crown much more than Culpo.

Other finalists in the Miss USA pageant had complained that the cellist didn't deserve the crown and even went to the extent of alleging that the contest was rigged. A former contestant of Miss USA, Sheena Monnin from Pennsylvania, even quit the pageant calling it fraudulent and trashy.

Monnin posted on her Facebook page claiming "I can no longer be affiliated in any way with an organization I consider to be fraudulent, lacking in morals, inconsistent, and in many ways trashy," according to National Post. She also added that another contestant "saw a list of the Top 5 before the show ever started."

But Culpo, who confidently believed that she earned the Miss USA crown and that it wasn't rigged, appeared on Good Morning America and called the allegations a "silly little case of poor sportsmanship." "America watched. They watched the pageant. And I think that you can watch and judge for yourself," she added.

And now being crowned as Miss Universe 2012, Culpo sure has proved her point.
