Teen drama "Gossip Girl" that started in 2007 came to an astounding close with a two hour finale that aired Dec. 17 and a closing line "New York, I Love You XOXO," according to nydailynews. After keeping fans entertained and addicted to the series with six thrilling seasons, the identity of Gossip Girl was finally revealed. Wanna take a wild guess? Yes, it was none other than "Lonely Boy" Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley).
The outsider from Brooklyn who could never be a part of the Upper East Side's elite was the one who kept the entire gang of friends on their toes. Right from those shocking and sometimes hurtful rumors to the e-blasts, Humphrey was behind it all. Classic isn't it? Who would have thought Lonely Boy could get this mean and blunt. The revelation comes with Humphrey's last chapter which he hands over to Nate (Chace Crawford) who runs Spectator.
"I wasn't born into this world, maybe I could write myself into it," he explains after the big and most awaited revelation. "I might have been a joke, but at least these people were talking about me."
And apparently his sister Jenny (Taylor Momsen) knew it the whole time which was surprising considering Gossip Girl had written some really mean things about Jenny too. But Humphrey did write a few mean things about himself so guess it's fair. Like Serena (Blake Lively) explained, he was as hard on himself as he was on the others. After all he got the name "Lonely Boy" through the blog.
Not just that, we couldn't help getting all excited when Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Blair (Leighton Meester) finally got together and sealed it with a kiss. The on-screen couple who got together and broke up for numerous reasons through the years finally got married in the finale with the help of Jack Bass, Chuck's uncle. So now they are officially "CHAIR."
Actress Kristen Bell gave a voice over to Gossip Girl in all the episodes and she finally made an appearance in the finale. The episode also saw a number of appearances like Eric (Connor Paolo) who played Serena's brother, Jenny, Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) who played Dan's friend, Agnus (Willa Holland) and Juliet played by Katie Cassidy.
As much as we loved the finale as the cast and crew had promised, we would definitely want to hear the phrase, "XOXO, Gossip Girl" again. Maybe through a movie? Hope producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are listening.
