Guitars strummed, drums rolled and the audience broke into a frenzy when legendary rockers Paul McCartney, Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger and Chris Martin came together for Sandy Benefit 12.12.12 concert held at the Madison Square Garden, reports thewrap.com.

The show opened with a performance by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band who sang, “Land of Hope and Dreams.” Springsteen also sang “Born to Run” with Bon Jovi. In a short and heartfelt message, Springsteen said, “Tonight, this is a prayer for all of our struggling brothers and sisters.”

Bon Jovi welcomed on stage by “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart also performed his hit number, “Living on a prayer” and “It’s my Life.”

After their performance, Pink Floyd founder Roger Waters, rocked to the extremely popular “Another Brick in the Wall” followed by few other songs from the album, “Dark Side of the Moon.”

Mick Jagger welcomed on stage by comedian and television host Jimmy Fallon, fed the audience’s need for his signature moves and hit like “You got me Rocking.”

Ben Stiller and Susan Sarandon handled the donations that people made over the phone.

Singer Alicia Keys honored the city and its people with like, “Brand New Me” after which she said, “My city, New York City, is the most resilient city.” This is not the first time Keys has been loud and clear about her love for the city. Her feelings were obvious when she teamed with singer Jay-Z to sing “Empire State of Mind.”

Comedian Chris Rock added a lighter mood and humor to the event and encouraged the audience to make a donation.

Introduced by Blake Lively of “Gossip Girl” fame, Coldplay singer Chris Martin went solo to perform, “When I Ruled the World.”

The famed band “Nirvana” came together with Paul McCartney singing the vocals. Started by front man Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic in the 80s, Nirvana split after the death of Cobain.

Sure it was a delight to watch all the rockers jamming on stage but when Adam Sandler and Paul Shaffer took the stage to sing, “Hallelujah, Sandy screw ya! We'll get through you, 'cause we're New Yorkers!" we couldn’t agree more.
