The Crucible, Oakland's premier industrial arts space is celebrating its 14th Anniversary with an exciting event, "Hot Couture: A Fusion of Fashion and Fire," Jan. 11-12.
"Hot Couture" features fire demonstrations, aerial artistry and a blazing showcase of wearable art from Bay Area designers. Not just that, the event will also showcase 13 local artist-designer teams who will display dozens of innovative couture concepts.
Some of the designs include stained glass couture gowns, custom corsetry embellished with interactive LED sensors and 3D imagery and warrior couture with welded steel and embossed leather.
Set in a background of metal and fire, Hot Couture is all geared up to ignite the audience with imagination, creation and inspiration.
The event will also feature a special performance on a fire-breathing violin; dynamic aerial artistry; and demonstrations in welding, blacksmithing, glass blowing and other fire arts.
The event that is all set to blend fashion with industrial art will support The Crucible's educational initiatives. With this unique event it will not only aid and encourage local arts but also make a mark on the audience as one of the most engaging and rewarding experiences by The Crucible.
Bound to satiate every fashion-lover, the event will showcase pieces that have never been seen on ramps before. Who would have thought of stained glass gowns?
Some of the Bay Area designers that will showcase their creations in the events are Miss Velvet Cream, Anthony Asterisk, David Dawson, Gustavo Fricke, Chris Jefferies, Autumn Adamme, Stefanie Ku and Annamarta Dostourian.
