Mexican-American singer and a popular television personality Jenni Rivera died in a plane crash, Dec. 9 according to abc NEWS. The US registered plane carrying six passengers along with the singer was flying from Monterey to Toluca and suddenly dropped off the radar early morning.
The news of Rivera’s death was confirmed by the singer’s father Pedro. He is said to have received the news from his son who was in Mexico at the time of the mishap. “This is the first tragedy of this kind that we suffer as a family,” abc NEWS quoted Rivera's father as saying. “I hope people remember her as she was - someone who was straight with the world.”
“The aircraft was left completely destroyed. The information we have is that there wasn't a single survivor,” Mexico’s Director of Civil Aviation, Alejandro Argudín said according to El Universal.
The crash site is still being investigated but the wreckage is believed to have strewn far and wide. The news has brought a cloud of gloom over fans and fellow celebs who took to Twitter to pay their respects.

“X- Factor” host Mario Lopez took to Twitter saying, “Spent some time with Jenni Rivera recently. What an amazing lady ... Cool, smart, funny & talented. Such a travesty ... God Bless her family”
The 43-year-old singer was born in Long Beach, California and is a well known voice. Rivera started recording in 1992 and has popular songs with unique themes like social issues, relationships and infidelity. Rivera sold over 15 million albums worldwide and was also nominated for Latin Grammys in 2003, 2008 and 2010. She also started companies like Divina Realty, Jenni Rivera Fragrance, Divine Music, Divina Cosmetics Jenni Jeans and The Jenni Rivera Love Foundation.
