Kristen Stewart has a lot of thank the "Twilight" franchise for. The star, who received worldwide acclaim through the film not only has a huge and loyal fan base, but is also scoring deals with some big banners. Stewart will now be starring opposite ace actor Ben Affleck in the upcoming romantic flick "Focus," according to Perez Hilton.
Last month there were rumors doing the rounds of the 22-year-old being in talks with the producers but now the speculations have been confirmed by the star herself.
"I can confirm that rumor," the Huffington Post quoted Stewart as saying. "It's a comedy. I'm really excited about it. We start shooting in April."
This is the first time Stewart will be trying her hands at comedy, which comes as a fresh change after the kind of roles the actress has played in the past. Not just the roles, the star herself has often been labeled as 'grumpy.'
In the movie, Stewart plays the role of an inexperienced con artist who teams up with skilled Affleck to commit numerous frauds. But the going gets tough when the couple develops romantic feelings for each other.
The film will be produced by Denise DiNovi of "A Walk to Remember" fame and will be written and directed by the "Crazy, Stupid Love" duo Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, according to accesshollywood.com.
Stewart will probably close 2012 on a good note. "Twilight" franchise's last movie, "Breaking Dawn Part 2" has garnered a lot of appreciation and grossed about $254 million till the third week on the box office. The actress is also set for the release of "On the Road," scheduled for Dec. 21. Stewart has managed to win back boyfriend Robert Pattinson and now has a film with Affleck to look forward to next year.
