Singing sensation Michael Jackson seems to have a real devoted fan in Lady Gaga. The pop star purchased 55 items when Julien's Auction, Los Angeles, showcased pieces from the late Jackson's career according to The Standard. Gaga plans to archive the items. The auction showcased 465 items that included costumes and props used by the singer during tours and in various music videos.
Not able to contain her joy, Gaga took to Twitter and shared her pleasure with her 31 million followers. "The 55 pieces I collected today will be archived & expertly cared for in the spirit & love of Michael Jackson, his bravery, & fans worldwide," Gaga said.
Though it is not yet known what exact pieces the singer bid for and won, fans are just happy knowing that 55 of Jackson's belongings are in good hands.
The sale featured Jackson's "BAD" tour jacket, a white glove and his Pepsi and Awards jacket that raised $240,000, $192,000 and $68,000 respectively, Reuters reported.
The outfits were designed by LA based Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush and the King of Pop had gifted the creation back to them. The late singer's sense of style has been aped by fans through the years and even featured in the London Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013 with Philip Treacy showcasing jackets and costumes like Jackson's. Lady Gaga had walked the ramp for the designer.
The sale grossed about $5 million, massively surpassing the expected amount.
Last month Julien's also auctioned the very popular blue and white pinafore worn by Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz" for a whopping $480,000 but the buyer's identity is not known, reports Design&Trend.
