Peplum is a rage these days but looks like the design is not meant for everyone. Not for Leona Lewis at least. The singer appeared on U.K.'s breakfast show "Daybreak" dressed in a metallic silver baggy top tucked into an unflattering white peplum pencil skirt.

The singer, who was promoting her new single "Lovebird", seemed incapable of carrying off the style as Lewis not only looked uncomfortable but the skirt looked extremely shabby on her.

Peplum is supposed to accentuate a woman's curves but the style looked very unflattering on Lewis. And the glittery top didn't help. Not only didn't it compliment the skirt, the studio lights made the color look even tackier and reminded one of tin foil.

The skirt would have probably looked better without the peplum style as instead of highlighting her waist, the peplum ended up making her hips look bulky and unappealing.

The singer teamed the ensemble with a pair of blue suede pump shoes that stood out in contrast to the blingy top.

With winged eyeliner and pink lip color, Lewis wore her long wavy tresses loose, pulled over her right shoulder. But the singer managed to garner appreciation from the audiences through her song and stunning voice if not her ensemble.

Lewis, "The X-Factor" alumnus is rumored to be dating "One Direction" band member Liam Payne. The 27-year-old recently spoke to The Daily Mail and admitted being friends with Payne but denied any dating rumors.

Peplums are fun and flirty and some celebs like "The Saturdays" member Rochelle Wiseman, actress Scarlet Johansson, Beyonce, Kate Middleton and Charlize Theron have carried the style with perfection.

While Lewis has made an impression with her red carpet appearances looking very fashionable in gowns, frocks and jumpsuits; the peplum style might be one of the designs that Lewis should stay away from.
