Sustainable development is an oft-used words these days due to all the pressures and difficulties our planet has been facing. Companies and brands today have a strong sense of social responsibility and launch numerous campaigns to raise awareness about eco-friendly products and protect the environment so that not just the present generations but even the future ones can benefit from nature.

When it comes to clothing and accessories companies, they have to aim at being fashionable and trendy and also keep the eco-friendly tag alive. In tune with this, Burton and Mountain Dew has announced the arrival of the new 2013 Green Mountain Project outerwear collection using sustainable fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. Clothing made from plastic bottles sounds weird right? But it’s true.

The new collection brings about a brand new step to Burton and Mountain Dew partnership that was introduced last year, and it features three stylish and eco-friendly jackets and two pants for men, and two jackets and one pant for women. All the products are made from fabrics created from the pellets of recycled bottles.

In addition, the collection also utilizes recycled and natural blended materials that have a lower impact on the environment whenever possible, including recycled taffeta and mesh linings.

“Thanks to Mountain Dew, every outerwear jacket and pant in the new 2013 Green Mountain Project collection is made with fabric that was once a plastic bottle,” said Greg Dacyshyn, Chief Creative Officer, Burton. “Our recycled fabric performs well on snow, has a great hand-feel and is super adaptable to prints, so it meets our high-quality standards for outerwear while helping reduce our impact, which is a big focus for us.”

Not just eco-friendly, the clothing is stylish and trendy. The men’s jacket is fit for the cold and comes in rugged colors of black, olive green and keef wax. The pants come in colors of keef wax, grey with plaid pattern and heron blue. While the jackets retail from a range of $300 to $360, the pants range from $169 to $200.

The women’s jacket comes in striking colors of purple, keef, orange and black which are very effective in adding a dash of brightness to a gloomy day or mood. These jackets are priced inthe range of $219-$270.

Patterned pants are once again making their mark on the runway and have been seen at various fashion weeks this season. Keeping up with this trend, Burton and Mountain Dew also have a patterned pair of pants for women long with plain solid color ones and are priced at $189.95.

We are not only impressed with the collection but also with the concept as it is a very effective and thoughtful way of making sustainable development fashionable. The new collection by the brand is available in stores nationwide.
