Hurricane Sandy, the largest Atlantic hurricane on record that hit the United States in late October, not only created mass destruction estimated at about $52 billion, but also claimed a number of lives. While there have been a number of relief initiatives, Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer is doing its bit for the victims in the form of a glamorous soirée at the iconic Cullman Hall of the Universe on Central Park West.
The charity event by TAG Heuer and its Hollywood brand ambassadors Cameron Diaz and Leonardo DiCaprio was held below the dramatic glass-cubed planetarium sphere in the American Museum of Natural History and was truly star studded.
It brought together NY and Hollywood celebrities, business, fashion and media leaders, and key figures from around the world. The event not only aimed to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Sandy, but was also a vehicle to raise awareness for gender equality and the empowerment of women worldwide.
This is the first time that TAG Heuer’s ambassadors Cameron Diaz and Leonardo DiCaprio came together for a TAG Heuer celebrity event. The 500 guests in attendance, many of whom flew in from across the world for the high-profile event, were treated to a special performance of the New York City Ballet, before dancing the night away to the music of New York’s famed DJ Evalicious.
Diaz looked stunning in a strapless black dress by Lanvin, which she paired with black pointy pumps. She accessorized with a Link Lady Trilogy Limited Edition watch in steel, while DiCaprio looked dapper and sophisticated in a black suit. He flaunted the new Link Limited Edition with a blue dial.
“TAG Heuer uniquely brings together the elegance of generosity and the essence of luxury,” said Diaz, who has been a TAG Heuer brand ambassador since last March, and is also a longtime supporter of U.N. Women. “I am very proud to be a part of their efforts to make the world a better and more beautiful place.”
During the event, TAG Heuer also showcased its new collection of limited edition LINK timepieces and jewelry. For each guest, TAG Heuer pledged $100 to New York Cares’ Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund, and a further $100 to Cameron Diaz’s partner charity, U.N. Women (The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women).
