Every fashionista dreams of having a nice pair of boots and moccasins in her closet. It is not only trendy and stylish, but also brings the ensemble together and lends comfort to the wearer all the time. This footwear goes well with all kinds of attire, and moccasins look exceptionally cute with skinny jeans as well as shorts.
Catering to fashion-conscious customers, a Canadian mother-and-daughter duo has launched an online fashion retail brand, Muks & Mocs. The brand combines their traditional and cultural history with the latest fashion styles and trends. Formerly known as Canadian Made Mukluks, the duo’s new store is bringing this combination into the winter fashion season through the launch of a brand new website this month on the popular e-commerce platform Shopify.
Muks & Mocs carries a wide variety of mukluks, moccasins, leather handbags, pouches and mitts. It also features the popular brand of boots and shoes, Manitobah Mukluks. In supple leather, lush suede and soft fur materials as well as intricate traditional beading and design, these boots are sure to catch any shoe-lover’s fancy.
As well as being aesthetic, these boots are also very practical. They were originally worn to protect natives of Canada from the harsh and unforgiving climate of the North. They might have been considered tough and practical earlier, but this footwear has now made its way onto the runways and shoe closets of fashionistas across the world.
Based in Winnipeg, Muks & Mocs is run by mother and daughter team Marileen Bartlett and Heather McCormick. The brand caters to men, women and children and doesn’t limit itself to just boots and moccasins, but also carries mittens, gauntlets and slippers that are stylish and comfortable. Fit for the winters, the collection is perfect for keeping one warm, looking stylish all the while. The brand epitomizes ‘comfortable fashion’ and the deerskin slipper is particularly very stylish and cute and would go perfectly with any attire.
“The creation of a Canadian-made Mukluk is so much more than fashion, it is an art form of our ancestors that has spanned many thousands of years. North American Indian tribes pride themselves in the rich history of their culture and heritage. We believe strongly that our traditions and culture must be of the highest standards when shown to the world,” McCormick noted.
And while moccasin and mukluk-style boots are timelessly beautiful, they’re also particularly in fashion this season. Brown moccasins paired with burgundy skinny jeans and a cozy sweater look especially chic.
Through their collection, the mother-daughter team hopes to share their culture with the mainstream, while preserving their traditions at the same time.
