The new ad campaign by Joe’s Jeans seems to have gone terribly wrong. Alexandra Tomlinson, who stars in the brand’s ad promoting its fall collection, seems to have a thigh which wouldn’t really make it possible for her to walk around. The airbrushed picture of the model was first discovered by psdisasters.com and one cannot help but notice her right thigh. The site says, “What qualifies as an “edgy, sexy bod[y]?” Size two models and matchsticks for shin bones?”
The 27-year-old model in the brand’s fall collection “Vintage Reserve 1971” is seen wearing a navy shirt along with the brand’s skinny distressed jeans and sitting on a bathroom counter top.
Tomlinson, who already has a very trim body, did not seem to be good enough for the brand. Though her left thigh looks perfectly normal, the right one, which has been disastrously trimmed, obviously catches the eye. The model has been in the industry for quite some time and has modeled for brands like Roberto Cavalli, Chanel, Dior and Dolce and Gabbana, among others. Ironically, Tomlinson is best known for her legs.
A report by styleite.com reads, “That thigh is approximately the circumference of a curtain rod. Also, maybe it’s just us, but when you look at the model’s left leg and bottom, it seems like she’s floating in space instead of actually sitting on that bathroom counter.”
Based in Los Angeles, Joe’s Jeans was founded in 2001 by Joe Dahan. The brand is dedicated to timeless style by constantly modernizing wardrobe staples from one season to the next. The brand carries a wide range of tops, jeans, skirts, pullovers, jackets, dresses and more.
Models who have been airbrushed and shown as extremely skinny have always created controversies, as people tend to ape them blindly. It has been argued that brands should be promoting a healthy, realistic body image through their models, and not anorexic-looking figures.
