The Vice Presidential debate may have been between Joe Biden and Paul Ryan, but we know who stole the show: the debate moderator Martha Raddatz. Not just with the way she hosted the event, but also with her sense of style. Moderating a debate is no child’s play. One needs to be extremely attentive, understand the viewpoint of both sides and keep them calm and focused. And Raddatz did all that with perfection and precision.

She took control and was very firm with both Biden and Ryan. She brought them back when they shifted from the topic. She asked relevant and difficult questions and made sure to hear out both parties. But apart from doing all these, Raddatz looked extremely calm, poised and professional. Dressed in a black skirt suit, the ABC News reporter looked very elegant and formal. She wasn’t sporting well-known designer wear off the runway, but she did look the perfect presenter for the debate.

Raddatz teamed the ensemble with a black glossy belt around her waist and black medium-heeled pump shoes. Not going over-the-top in her style, she left her shoulder-length blonde hair loose, parted on the right with a small fringe on the left. Keeping makeup minimal, Raddatz sported a tinge of lip color and accessorized with small dangling earrings.

The ABC News reporter faced a lot of criticism even before the debate commenced, after it was revealed that Raddatz’s ex-husband and President Obama had studied together and knew each other personally. It also emerged that Obama had even attended her wedding in 1991, according to The Daily Mail.

Former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin criticized Raddatz, telling Fox News that “Martha Raddatz let Joe Biden run wild.” According to Palin, the moderator constantly interrupted Ryan but did not do so when Biden deviated from the topic.

But when it came to her style, her look was simple, formal and perfect for the occasion. Raddatz has been in the industry since 1999 and with those number of years at work, she is bound to know how to dress appropriately for occasions and events of this much importance.
