In the beauty scene, experts always suggest methods and ways on how mature women can achieve their "best skin," but the topic of making errors during the process is often overlooked.
One example of this is over-exfoliating. This step is normally included in a skincare routine to remove dead skin cells and dirt by using scrubs, serums, creams, and masks.
"It can exacerbate side effects of aging such as dryness," said Lesley Reynolds, the Harley Street Skin Clinic co-founder when asked by the media outlet, GB News.
"It can actually reduce skin's vitality and make it more susceptible to damage from UV light (...) leading to a compromised lipid barrier that won’t function properly, a sensitized skin condition, and accelerated premature aging," seconded by a Dermalogica expert.
Some signs of over-exfoliation to watch out are:
•dehydration
•dryness
•skin tautness
•redness
•itchiness
•sensitivity
•inflammatory acne
•irritation

Third and last, mature women should not miss and regularly stick with a skincare regime, especially at night.
"This is when your skin repairs itself most effectively," Dr. Lesley noted.
