Beauty influencers might be greatly affected by the possible TikTok ban in the US, but they are already preparing for their next move.
Recently, 170 million American TikTok users were alarmed after the Supreme Court decided to shut down the application if the Chinese-owned company, ByteDance, disapproved of selling its US operation to an American owner by Sunday, January 19.
The ban was raised by lawmakers justifying that it poses national security risks, such as the possibility of China compelling its users' data, as per Happi.

Just like what happened in India in 2020, the application will not immediately disappear from people's devices. Rather, a prompt will show up that it can't be accessed from the country anymore, it will attempt to launch the application, explained NPR.
Among the users, those who make a living as influencers are expressing their concerns while preparing for the inevitable.
For example, accounts owned by Toni Bravo (@BoniTravo), Casey Malone (@CaseysHappyHealthy), and Angela Park (@AngelaYPark) are relocating their fans to other social media platforms such as on Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat and more.

There are also several US users who are already moving from TikTok to other China-based platforms like RedNote (Xiaohongshu) and Lemon8, according to data from Google and Apple.
Beauty influencers are also looking into more alternatives beyond China that let their users share short-form videos that capitalize on social shopping such as Clapper, Flip, and Orme. Beauty brands are already signing up for the aforementioned, like Bime Beauty, Ideo, Shayde Beauty, and more.
