The preparation for the Africa Fashion Week Los Angeles is picking up tempo and the event venue has been finalized as the Papillion Institute of Art. Deemed fit for the event, the institute embodies performance and digital media art which relates with the fundamentals of Africa Fashion Week and the role of digital media.

The guests will be witness to artwork by Michelle Robinson, whose “IDENTIFLY” exhibit will be on display for the duration of AFWLA.

The Africa Fashion Week Los Angeles is an event sought after by various local, national and international media, and beauty and fashion companies. Keeping this interest in mind, the AFWLA has chosen The Standard Hotel as its official hospitality sponsor. The hotel has also played host to the well-received event, “Africa is Rising” in August. The event voiced the issues, both good and bad, faced by designers and aimed to raise awareness about the African textile and fashion industry. It also aimed to bring human rights violation issues to the fore.

The AFWLA is a great opportunity for designers to showcase their talents and creations, as it offers international exposure and helps them network. It is also a noble feat to work toward the abolition of human rights violation in the continent, which is rampant.

The Standard Hotel will provide accommodation to the participating designers and invited guests. The hotel is known for its quality hospitality services and has garnered quite a lot of guest appreciation.

The inaugural production of AFWLA will feature emerging as well as popular designers and design houses from Africa like Bishme Cromartie, Autumn Adeigbo, Efani by Nana Osei, Aiwo Okunuga, 31 Bits, Fulani Fashions by Omatu Gottschlich and more.

Through this event, the Africa Fashion Week Los Angeles intends to connect with various local and national buyers, which will provide more opportunities and progress in the U.S., as well as in a global spectrum.

Tickets to the event scheduled for Oct. 10-13 can be purchased online for general admission or as a VIP guest. A portion of proceeds from the sale of tickets will go to AFWLA’s nonprofit beneficiary, MacDella Cooper Foundation that works toward providing youth, orphans and abandoned children with basic necessities and education.
