Gap will debut an exclusive limited-edition collection for men Sept. 27. The new collection, which ranges from accessories to outerwear, is designed by GQ's six “Best New Menswear Designers in America” 2012. It showcases the signature styles of each rising designer.
Priced from $20 to $348, the collection includes boxer briefs, leather bomber jackets, belts, knits, tees, hoodies, cargo pants, denims, blazers, scarves, cardigans and cargo pants.
“From the very early stages of the design process, we knew this collection was going to be something our customers were drawn to. These designers are shaping the future of menswear, and it's an honor to bring their distinct visions to life in a way that complements Gap's casual American point of view,” Mark Breitbard, head of merchandising for Gap North America, said.
Gap has always focused on providing a casual, laid back style of clothing. Founded in San Francisco in 1969 by Donald G. Fisher and Doris F. Fisher, the brand has grown from one store to over 1,500 stores globally. The stores are either company-operated or are on a franchise basis. Gap has a collection of trendy and sporty sweatshirts and hoodies that is quite popular.
The designers include:
Saturdays NYC, which brings surf style to urban dwellers. Founded by Morgan Collett, Josh Rosen, and Colin Tunstall, it features designs that can be taken from surf beaches to city sidewalks.
Todd Snyder, whose designs are rugged as well as refined; fit for one who wears a jacket and tie for his own pleasure.
Ian Velardi, with his signature uptown-meets-downtown designs.
Johan Lindeberg's BLK DNM, which brings together black jeans with tuxedo jackets.
Twins Ariel and Shimon Ovadia, of Ovadia & Sons, who showcase classic menswear with unexpected colors and designs.
Mark McNairy, who carries playful military, workwear and athletic patterns.
Established in 2007, GQ’s “Best New Menswear Designers in America” project aims to act as a stepping-stone for emerging American menswear designers.
