On the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, Arefeh Mansouri stole the show at “EMERGE” at the New York Fashion Week, where she showcased her Spring 2013 collection, making a name for herself among the fashion elite.

The runway show was held just feet away from the Sept. 11 memorial and exuded Mansouri’s originality and imagination.

“I wanted to go all out and do something grand. This isn't the time to be simple and down to earth. I wanted to represent the greatness and energy of what is New York City, despite the tragedy it has endured,” Mansouri said.

Her collection was completely original and didn’t take inspiration from any of the previous collections, designers or ancient cultures. A fusion of many fabrics, materials and designs, the collection was chic and elegant. Designed and made with a lot of effort, the dresses had delicate and intricate embellishments on them.

Mansouri also showcased her bridal dresses for Spring/Summer 2013, which were simple and classy, with one-of-a-kind designs and patterns on them. The dresses came in all lengths, assorted neck designs and with or without the veil.

Mansouri has always embodied the essence of timeless traditions that never go out of style. She believes in combining the old and modern to create something that is unique and trendsetting.

The couture designer was selected among various other designers to feature in the show “EMERGE”. Mansouri began designing at a very young age. She started by sewing dresses for her dolls as a child and then graduated to designing dresses for her friends and sisters as a teenager. By the age of 24, she had introduced her own collection of sportswear. Mansouri now runs a line of bridal and evening wear and has also designed costumes for movies like “What’s Your Number”, “The Bling Ring” and “Beauty and the Briefcase”. Not just apparel, Mansouri also has a fragrance, “La Folie” to her credit.

Mnasouri’s collection showcased at the New York Fashion Week will be available for sale at a high-end boutique in Soho.
