Happy Black History Month! To celebrate this month, we're highlighting Black-owned beauty brands that deserve support all year round.

Here are some Black-owned makeup brands to keep on your radar. From Pat McGrath Labs to Beauty Bakerie and more, there's a brand for you.

Pat McGrath Labs

Pat McGrath is one of the most iconic makeup artists of all time. If you love Fashion Week, chances are you've 100% seen her work. According to her website, every season, she creates looks for over 60 ready-to-wear and couture fashion shows around the globe. In fact, she recently went viral for her looks at the Maison Margiela Artisanal Collection 2024. Her first beauty product launched on social media in 2015 and sold out -- and this has continued to be a theme in the brand.

Lip Bar

The Lip Bar was a "Shark Tank" reject, but the rejection inspired founder Melissa Butler to go even further with her brand. Her products were created with people of color in mind. The brand is vegan as well as cruelty-free.

Beauty Bakerie Cosmetics

The brand was created by Cashmere Nicole, who wanted to create a brand that spreads kindness as well as sweetness. The brand has whipped products inspired by pastries and other baked goods. The brand is cruelty-free, vegan-friendly, and gluten-free.

Danessa Myricks Beauty

The brand was founded by Danessa Myricks, who is a makeup artist, photographer, and more. The concept for the brand was that everyone was seen and heard. The brand creates a lot of multi-use products because Myricks wanted a brand that allows users freedom.

Fashion Fair

This brand was created in 1973 by Eunice Johnson. It was one of the first prestige brands to cater to darker skin tones. The barrier-breaking brand is well-loved internationally, and it highlights natural products. At the moment, the development team is headed by celebrity makeup artist Sam Fine and dermatologist Dr. Caroline Robinson.

LYS Beauty

LYS was the first Black-owned clean makeup brand at Sephora. The brand was founded by Tisha Thompson, who wanted to prioritize skin-loving formulas. These formulas help enrich skin, and the ingredients are cruelty-free and vegan. The brand prides itself on making all products under $30.

Ami Colé

This brand was created and designed for melanin-rich skin. The formulas were designed to be skin-friendly and clean. The goal of this brand is to make clean beauty more accessible to everyone.
