Despite what many people think, plenty of women experience facial hair growth.

Just like men, they struggle to get rid of it, especially if the hair is coarse. Depending on the type of hair one has, this can lead to insecurities for some women. Some might feel embarrassed by their facial hair and wish to remove it. Luckily, hair removal is an option.

But some methods may cause the hair to grow back quickly or may not target every hair follicle. So, which hair removal process works best?

The Threading Technique

One method for removing facial hair is threading. This technique originated in eastern cultures, specifically in India and Iran. It involves using a thread that is looped and twisted together, leaving a middle section entwined. Two handles are used to move the twisted thread, allowing it to pull hairs out.

Despite being a somewhat painful process, threading is known to last longer than waxing and shaving. Additionally, it can cause the hair to grow back thin and fine.

Threading is recommended for those with sensitive skin because, unlike waxing, it doesn't involve applying any chemicals to the skin, limiting the risk of allergic reactions.

Hair Removal Creams

Despite the efficiency of threading, some people may prefer something they can easily do from the comfort of their own home. One of the quickest ways to remove facial hair is by using a hair removal cream.

Many options are available, including from brands like Nair and Venus, which offer affordable products that get the job done.

As for how to use a hair removal cream, apply it to any spot where you want to get rid of hair. Depending on the brand, you might need to leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes and then wipe it off with a sponge or towel.

This method can leave you with softer skin, as it removes hair below the skin's surface.

Many brands sell creams designed for sensitive skin. Regardless of the brand you use, it's recommended to apply the cream to a small spot on your face or body first to check for any reactions before doing a larger area.

At-Home Waxing

Waxing is a technique everyone has heard of. It's used to remove hair from any part of the body, leaving the skin soft and hair-free for four to six weeks.

Many women prefer waxing to remove facial hair because it's quick despite being painful. It involves pulling the hair straight from the roots rather than just the surface.

Waxing can be a bit pricey when done at a salon. But luckily, several brands have created at-home waxing kits, such as Sally Hansen.

These brands offer sets that include everything you need to ensure efficient results, with some providing hot wax sets and others selling waxing strips.

Hair Trimmers

Another method to remove facial hair is using an electric hair trimmer, which efficiently gets rid of any hairs, whether fine or coarse.

Electric hair trimmers often come in travel sizes, allowing you to carry them with you for any last-minute touch-ups before a date or event. This technique is particularly handy for thin chin and upper lip hair that people want to quickly eliminate.

The only concern with hair trimmers is that they only remove the hair on the surface. Depending on your hair type, you can expect the hair to grow back within a few days to a couple of weeks.
